One Year Later...

Oh boy, who can believe it's been a year? And what a great year! I'm still here, that's pretty cool. Mommy stopped taking me for weigh-ins every month as nothing was working and I wasn't gaining weight. The stinky VET made her feel very sad and helpless and I told her I didn't want to go anymore, I feel fine and I will probably always be underweight. I quite like the bony look, very Kate Moss!

I still live with my stinky brother Pippin, he's a constant pain in my bum. We both eat the same food now, a lovely holistic fishy food called Azmira. Pippin was getting SO FAT from sneaking my cheeseburger food, MOLOL! I feel great these days, I have a heated pet blanket to snooze on and now that the snow has melted Mommy takes me for walks on my leash. Today I met a rabbit! He was quite large and mainly just ignored me...I felt a bit miffed actually. Doesn't he know who I am? Clearly HE didn't get the memo!

I'm glad to have so many loving friends, both hooman and furry, and I wish I could give you all big stinky fishy kisses. Here's a start...MWAH!

Meow meow everyone! Thought I'd pop in and show you my dazzling new photos. One was taken at the vet during my surgery and one was taken after I was fully recovered and back to princess status...I'll let you figure out which one is which.

I'm doing pretty well, I have good days and bad days and I still don't like to eat sometimes. The stinky VET says this is because the kidney disease is making my tummy hurt and I feel nauseated and yucky. I have a special medication to help with that but it too is yucky and stinky and sometimes I spit it up all over my mommy. Luckily mommies have to put up wif that, she cuddles me and wipes the pukies off my face. I love you mommy!

Tasha's Princess Party

Hello everyone,

I wanted to write this earlier but was having some problems logging on. My Princess Party was a raging success! (I stayed home but I heard it was awesome.) Lots of people came and they raised almost $300 towards my vet bill. People dressed up like princesses and I got my own tiara, yay! Big stinky kisses to everyone who came or who is reading this right now...

Saturday Surprise

Well, I had to go back to the stinky VET today (although it's been pointed out that I'M actually the stinky one who smells like rotten tuna, whatever...) for a weigh-in and GREAT NEWS, I've gained 3 ounces. It's only been two weeks since my surgery so this is wunnerful, Mommy says I've been eating like a piglet since the surgery. I'll have to take her word for it since I've never seen a piglet. I wonder if they look like my brother Pippin? While we were there they decided to take some blood and check my hemoglobin, it was AWFUL and NASTY and STINKY and they POKED me with needles. I was very disappointed by Zelda in particular, she's not supposed to do bad things to me...she calls me her Squishy and says she loves me! Lies, all lies... While I was waiting for the results and recovering from my trauma I decided to hide in Tang the clinic cat's tree house but he got very angry and kept glaring at me. Some days you can't win... But then Dr. McDonald came out and said my hemoglobin has improved a bit which made Mommy very happy so I don't think Dr. McDonald is stinky anymore, I quite like her.

Tonight Mommy's friend Stacy is frowing me a Princess Party fundraiser tonight, sadly I can't go as it's in a pub and they don't allow animals. How rude! However to be honest I'd rather stay home and snooze...

Hello everyone! *Tasha smiles with her sparkly new teeth* Thank you all for your support, I had my surgery yesterday and it went very well. I got spoiled rotten because I'm a very special girl and the VET took embarrassing pictures of me while I was under the influence, grrr... Mommy was a mess, she missed me so much that after my surgery was over she came and sat with me for 2 hours until I could go home! I was verrrry sore last night, I couldn't take pain medication (the main one can't be given to cats with kidney disease and I got terrible bloating with the medication they gave me there...my side swelled up so much Mommy thought I had a hernia and freaked out again, she's so neurotic.)

A bit of bad news is that my lab results showed that I'm anaemic, that means that I don't have enough hemoglobins in my blood to carry oxygen to different parts of my body. Mommy is going to give me special vitamins every day to see if that helps, otherwise there are injections that will give me the missing hemoglobin.

Oh well, you can't win 'em all...

A big job!

Wow, I've done 2 poops in 2 days, this is a personal record! I don't have much to say tonight, my mommy is getting pretty stressed about my surgery and she keeps trying to smother me with her love... Only 7 days to go, I can't wait until it's all over and I can hit the "all you can eat" at Buffet Royale!!

Have I mentioned how much I love all my friends? I never knew so many people cared about me, it fills my mommy's heart with happiness. Whatever happens next I love you all!!

An exciting weekend!

Yesterday Mommy took me to the VET. Yuck!! It was snowing so hard that by the time I got there I was covered in white flakes (right through my carrier, can you believe it?) and I had to convince everyone that I did not indeed have dandruff. After everyone petted, kissed and fussed over me the yucky medical part started. We found out that I haven't gained anymore weight so mommy was bit upset about that, I also have higher blood pressure than I did a few months ago but it's still considered normal. The vet recommended going through with the surgery so in two weeks time I will have sparkly new teef. Yay.

Today was a great day, I got to eat some pineapple, I napped on my blanket and mommy took some more toupee pictures...I have the Shirley Temple, the Mr. T and the sultry Marilyn Monroe look... I am of course the returning star of http://www.kittytoupee.com/ and for you today I will model the Shirley Temple because I'm in that kind of mood!

Oh, the Horror!

I had a bath last night. No, it was not voluntary. Mommy said I smelled like pee and tuna and she didn't want to cuddle me until the situation changed. So she dumped me in the bathtub and washed me like an incontinent infant. CAN YOU IMAGINE?? My tail didn't dry properly, it has lost its mojo and just drags behind me...Pippin thinks it's a toy and keeps trying to bite my bum. I will get her for this, I really will-I just have to have a little nap first. And I better wait until after supper to get my revenge...stay tuned!

Mommy says I'm yucky

It's been an exciting few days. Some of you might know that I'm kinda famous, as well as having my photo on the wall at my vet I'm also the current star of www.kittytoupee.com Unfortunately yesterday I had a little lapse and...I ate my toupee. Mommy says I could have had a long promising career as a toupee model but her dream has gone up in smoke (actually I coughed it up in a hairball, heehee.)
This morning I woke her up at 4am and when I climbed on her pillow I rubbed my soaking wet tail on her forehead. She was very grossed out but I'm not talking...she can just wonder forever WHY my tail was wet!

Well, Mommy booked my surgery for March 21, we're both a little nervous. I can't wait to have shiny white teef that don't hurt when I eat! *Tasha closes her eyes and imagines life with sparkly white dentures, she may end up disappointed...* Today I ate some tuna, threw up on my favorite blanket and found a new favorite blanket. Oooh, gotta go, Mommy's coming with my injection!!

Hello, my name is Tasha Flasher and I have been diagnosed with advanced congestive heart failure and chronic kidney failure (http://www.felinecrf.com/) This is apparently not good. The VET says I'm very dehydrated so my crazy mommy is leaving water glasses all around the apartment for me to drink from since I don't like bowls. Mommy also gives me fluid injections a few times a week to make me feel better, they're not as gross as they sound. I also get to eat as much as I want to fatten me up, sadly I don't like to eat a lot and I'm very very thin. I have a wonderful food that the VET calls "kitty cheeseburger" food and it's for special cats who are recovering from illnesses. I sure like it a lot but can only eat a few bites at a time. This just means my fat brother Pippin will continue to expand from eating my leftovers, MOL. Don't feel bad for me though, I have lots of lovely friends and family. Even my stinky VET is pretty nice, they take really good care of me. http://www.glenoracatclinic.com/

23 February 2009-Update: The VET wants to do some surgery on my teeth, she thinks part of the reason I'm not eating is because they're so awful and infected. I'm a little worried about this, mainly because it will cost $1000 and Mommy is very stressed out about finding that kind of money, she's already spent so much on tests and visits and food since I was diagnosed in October.

We came up with an idea we hope you would like to help us with! Mommy thought if we were to ask all of our friends for a small donation maybe that would help raise the money for my surgery. She is quite embarrassed about this but is willing to do anything to help me get better. She has helped lots of other kitties this way and is hoping this is a way for people to pay it forward. Any donation would help, no matter how small. It would be so wonderful to have lovely sparkly new teeth and be able to eat whatever I want without pain, it would help my kidneys too so it's a win/win situation!
